This sub-committee pays close attention
to proposals for changes to the additives Directives and regulations
and plays an active role in ensuring the communication of
the views of abim members to Government. New ingredients,
additives and changes of use proposed by EU member states
are also considered, together with the impact these will have
on current legislation.
The recent European Commission proposal to amend the Additives
Directive is one of the key issues considered by this group.
Previously, the group has considered the proposal for universal
fortification of wheat flour with folic acid.
The Chairman of the Food Ingredients and Additives sub-committee
represents abim on the FDF Food Ingredients sub-committee. |
